A Find of Mammoth Proportions!

May 31st, 2013 No comments

It appears a group of Russian scientists have discovered a well-preserved mammoth with still-liquid blood inside it!

While we’ve been able to reconstitute part of the mammoth DNA sequence using hair, this puts us one big elephantine step closer to being able to clone these wooly bastards, miniaturize them and start selling them in chain-store pet boutiques or mall kiosks.

One of the best quotes is from Seymon Grigoryev, head of the Mammoth Museum…

“The fragments of muscle tissues, which we’ve found out of the body, have a natural red color of fresh meat,” Grigoryev said.

Clearly this man knows a good burger when he sees it, and we can only hope that, once the bacterial tests come back okay, Seymon will throw a few tusks on the barbie.

And although the prospect of cloning an extinct mammal is pretty incredible, we’re most excited about the fact that by discovering mammoth blood – long thought to be the secret ingredient in Faygo’s Rock ‘n Rye soda – will result in a wider distribution range for this most elusive of beverages.

Holiday Benefit Show Update

January 13th, 2010 No comments

Happy New Year to our fellow simians!  Hope 2010 finds you well – the three of us are excellent, thank you, and wanted to start the year off right by thanking you from the bottom of our cardiopulmonary systems for making our first Holiday Benefit Concert such a success.  All told, you helped raise more than $200 in donations for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank, which will help them as they continue their work helping Ohioans in need.

The show was a lot of fun – everything from the old standards like Walk Don’t Run and Wipeout to our freshy-fresh new songs went over really well.  Of particular note were two of our latest originals, The Apes of Wrath, which featured a pounding double display of tribal percussion as our own Low Frequency Echo-communicator joined up with The Drumbuie on the drums, and Butch Cassowary and the Sundance Echidna, which dropped everyone right into the middle of a gunslinging western epic.

Good times, good friends, good surf, and thanks again for making the show such a success!
